I am pleased to see that Government is committed to elevating the lives of farmers, especially in the Mahaica and Mahaicony Creeks.
President Jagdeo has never let us down. I must commend him for his recent visit to our farming area, to listen to and address our problems.
Nobody has ever paid us so much attention, like this Government has done.
For many years our needs were neglected and our cries for assistance was never heard until now. Today, we the farmers in these areas can boast of many improvements.
I hope that like myself, many other farmers will take into consideration what we have been encouraged to do and that is to diversify our crops.
What was more pleasing to me was the fact that the President himself said that he will assist us in digging ponds to rear fishes. This shows the extent to which he would go to ensure that our lives are improved.
The road would be repaired and our request for an all weather road was granted. These are all necessary for our development and the country’s well being.
In addition, the setting aside of $2 billion for the construction of the Hope canal to relieve us of the burden during the raining season, we are so grateful.
No one can imagine the pain and suffering that we have to endure during that period. We the farmers are happy that our voices are being heard and that our needs are being met.
