Yesterday Guyanese across country came together in a spirit that truly emulated the nation’s motto, ‘One People, One Nation, One Destiny’, as they made merry on Easter Monday.
The Easter Monday preparations began, across the country, in the early morning as persons started setting up booths along the sea-walls for the usual sea-wall lime and kite flying.
Others prepared picnic baskets for an outing with the family, as is customary with most households, while others completed the final works on kites and others fiddled with additional small touches to make the day great.
These colourful and creative designs filled the skies everywhere as the brilliant sunny weather yesterday lent its glory to the day’s activities.
With the many activities the children, in particular, seemed to enjoy the fun and frolic as they were even part of kite flying competitions that were held at various places across the country.
One of the more popular kite flying sites, the Joe Vieira Park, West Bank Demerara, saw one such competition , the Cellink Kite Flying Competition.
The competition saw several entries in three categories; largest, smallest and most unique kite.
To everyone’s pleasure that was what the day’s activities centered around, fun, as families, large and small, used the Easter celebrations to come together in a manner unique to Guyana, as they celebrated Easter together.
