CHAIRMAN of the President’s College (PC) Board of Governors, Mr. David De Groot, said yesterday that the body has accepted, in principle, the report of a joint special committee, also involving representatives of the Ministry of Education, to minimise expenditure at the institution.
He told the Guyana Chronicle that the documentation was received at a recent meeting and they have been examining the structure, with the aim of identifying areas where expenses can be truncated.
De Groot said the recommendations are being looked at by the College Administration and persons likely to be affected by the implementation will be notified in due course.
I am not prepared, at this point in time, to confirm any specific action that will be taken,” he said.
De Groot disclosed, though, that the $60M odd annual disbursement by Government to fund the college operations was recently increased to $160M.
