Police allege defendant posed as GNBS inspector

DANIEL Ramdeen, 47, of Lot 10 Bel Air, Greater Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday, charged with obtaining money by false pretence.

It is alleged that, last March 17, with intent to defraud, he obtained $1,500, from Mahase Warie, by falsely pretending that he was an inspector attached to Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) and in a position to check scales.

The defendant pleaded not guilty and was granted $25,000 bail until April 27.
