The trio all echoed that while the training was intense, rigorous and time-consuming they are thankful for the dedication of their Senseis Chaves and Marvin Singh.

The more outspoken sibling stated, however, that they think karate is a lifelong journey with numerous health benefits and therefore they intend to reach all the way to Eighth Dan.

The dojo located in the National Park has been the three karatekas’ haven since they started karate four years ago. Younger sister Tamicka, 24, said that while the rivalry is quite healthy between them, she has not been able to beat her sister, who is one year her senior.

Speaking to Chronicle Sport on Friday after the presentation of certificates to all the successful students at the dojo’s last grading exercise, Chaves stated that he was proud of all of his students.

However, he was more pleased with the commitment shown by the three students over the past two years as they studied for their black belt.

On Friday over 30 students received certificates for their participation in the grading exercise held on March 28.
