According to a release, contrary to the inexperienced women’s team, Guyana sent a men’s team comprising of seasoned players mixed with newcomers to the inaugural Caribbean Cup held in Trinidad in 2007.

While the men lost to eventual finalists Trinidad and Barbados, they defeated Jamaica to take the Bronze medals.

This success followed on the heels of their previous outing to the Alba Games in Venezuela earlier in the year where Guyana copped the silver medal, losing only to gold medallists Cuba in the tournament.

National coach of this successful team, Timothy McIntosh, is unfortunately no longer available to perform this task due to personal commitments and the team will commence training under the guidance of Damon Woodroffe and Ivor Thompson, who both were part of the 2007 contingent and are likely to steer the team along the successful path laid out by McIntosh.
