A POST mortem examination yesterday revealed that Guyana National Newspapers Ltd. (GNNL) Production Superintendent Raymond Lynch died as a result of asphyxiation due to drowning.

The body of Mr. Lynch, 54, of Lot 11 Area ‘CC’, Ogle, was pulled from his submerged car, PFF 8518, at about 04:30 h, in a trench at Happy Acres, Police reported.

He had been trapped in the driver’s seat.

Lynch was on his way home after taking a colleague to Golden Grove, also on East Coast Demerara, when he lost control of the vehicle.

During his 35 years service with the publishers of the Guyana and Sunday Chronicle, he was twice adjudged ‘Worker of the Year’, in 1989 and 1991.

Having started as a delivery boy, he worked his way up to the post he held at the time of his death.

Lynch leaves to mourn several daughters and sisters, to whom the management and staff of GNNL expressed condolences.
