Police said the 00:30h victims were carpenter Gowkumar Ramoutar, 41 and five other persons who were attacked and robbed by two men brandishing a gun and a knife.

The six were under Ramoutar’s house socialising after a cricket match when the they were held at gunpoint.

Police said the robbers stole personal jewellery, cash totalling $62,000 and two cell phones.

THE Regional Administration Region Four regrets the passing of the Mrs Janet Jagan OE. She has worked tirelessly with great commitment towards the building of her adopted home, Guyana.

Our country has lost a great and illustrious leader who was an outstanding woman and a wonderful human being.

Mrs Jagan had demonstrated the ability to be an effective force in her own rights, she was an important partner of her late husband Dr. Cheddi Jagan who was recognised as a charismatic leader.

Her contribution to Guyana’s development is tremendous and enormous.

The Region is committed to the legacy left by Mrs Janet, to continue to build our country and strengthen democracy in our dear land.
