A postmortem performed on deceased Cuban national, Edgar Barrios Serres, has determined that he died of heart failure.
The examination was performed by Pathologist Dr Vivekanand Brijmohan and the official cause of death was given as coronary occlusion and atherome.
Barrios was discovered dead in his Sixth Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, home by neighbours last Sunday, upon investigation of a foul odor emanating from his apartment.
Reports are that the Cuban had been ill for a number of weeks.
Barrios, an electrical engineer, had been a lecturer at the University of Guyana for the past ten years, and also taught Spanish at the Cummings Lodge Secondary School.
