Decked in an array of cultural attire, students and distinguished persons gathered to witness a multitude of dances, poems and songs done by the cast of performers.
The cultural dances and national songs did not fail to entice all those gathered in the auditorium, as they swayed, laughed and rocked to the beat of drums and tassas.
Most of the enthusiasm continued through the day with the multi-cultural presentations. However, apart from the colourful aspect of the programme, students were edified by their teachers about the different historical features of Guyana, such as Parliament Buildings, the National Park and a host of other interesting facts and places.
Persons were even given a chance to experience a part of the period when Guyana gained its independence in 1966, when students recited the presentations of former President Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham and Queen Elizabeth 11.
In addition, a kaleidoscope of colourful creations was on display, depicting progress over the years and also taking a step back in time, including a replica of the Berbice and Demerara bridges, farms and pictures of the past presidents.
This event has been the eighth of its kind, and every year the members of the school try to bring something quite innovative, not just to capture the eyes of the students, but also to showcase the capability of striking a balance between creativity and academics. (Navendra Seoraj)
