– Min Bulkan tells Reg. 1 residents

THE alliances formed by the Coalition Government, which yielded a resounding victory in the General and Regional Elections of May 2015, will see a repeat come March 2020. This is the prediction of Minister of Communities, Hon. Ronald Bulkan.

The minister was speaking to residents in the Barima-Waini village of Arukamai at the weekend. He said the current and future successes of the government rest extensively on its status as a coalition.

“We believe that what Guyana needs is more unity and more coalition. One party alone does not have the skills or expertise to lead this country and so we need more alliances, not a few men going alone – lone rangers,” Minister Bulkan noted.

With March 2, 2020 approaching, Minister Bulkan said several small parties have begun announcing themselves. The parties present various narratives, but none speak of national unity. “We believe in national unity, and we believe that Guyana belongs to all people,” he conveyed.

The governing coalition is comprised of six parties- the A Partnership For National Unity (APNU) formed in 2011- which of itself is made up of five parties; the National Front Alliance (NFA), the Working Peoples’ Alliance (WPA), the Guyana Action Party (GAP), the People’s National Congress (PNC) and the Justice for All Party (JFAP). It was later joined by the Alliance for Change (AFC) in 2015, where together, the coalition was victorious in the elections that year.

But despite the numerous “small parties” now coming out, the Communities Minister opined that the 2020 elections will largely depend on the trust the Guyanese populace has on incumbent President David Granger and his administration. For its part, the government is going to the elections in March with a great degree of confidence, as His Excellency, President David Granger, came into office and proved himself, earning the respect of the vast majority of the Guyanese people.

“He’s proven himself to be a caring, kind and considerate human being. A leader who is concerned about all the people of Guyana, particularly young people. A leader who leads,” Minister Bulkan stated. (DPI)
