THE Upper Demerara Football Association yesterday confirmed that Eagles United are the UDFA GTT 2017-18 Senior Football league champions.
The late decision follows the drawn result between both unbeaten teams Eagles United and Net Rockers. Both teams won seven games and drew one for 22 points each.
However, the decision, which caused concern on the night, was taken due to a superior goal difference on the part of Eagles who had 16 goals to Net-Rockers 15.
The ruling was confirmed through checks by the UDFA with the football authority and rules in such circumstances.
Eagles United scored 23 goals and allowed in seven, while by contrast Net Rockers netted 25 but were breached 10 times.
Meanwhile, The UDFA is set to have a General Council Meeting today from 14.00hrs at the Linden Enterprise Network (LEN) in Mackenzie.
The meeting is to draw the fixtures for the annual GT Beer year-end tournament which is scheduled to open next Sunday.
THE UDFA says that clubs that are interested in the tournament need to be fully registered with three guest players being allowed per registered club.
