West Indies A team opener Chandrapaul Hemraj scored an unbeaten 103 which sparked Guyana Jaguars to a crushing nine-wicket victory over the West Indies B team in their day-night CWI Super50 clash at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy last evening.

The 25-year-old Hemraj, who hails from Stathavon, ECD, shared an unbroken 153-run second wicket partnership with Christopher Barnwell who finished undefeated on a well played 61 that contained three sixes and one boundary off 71 deliveries.

The Everest Cricket Club player posted his career best 50-overs score and it was his maiden regional triple-figure mark in First Class, List A or T20 matches. Hemraj embellished his hundred with two sixes and twelve delightful fours off 80 balls.

Hemraj and Barnwell took control of the proceedings in a strategic right-left combination after left-handed opener, Trevon Griffith, had shared a 40-run first wicket stand.

Pacer Chemar Holder dismissed Griffith, caught by wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, for 14 and was the only successful bowler.

Guyana Jaguars triumphed with 193 for 1 off 28.2 overs after the West Indies B team innings closed at 192 for 9 in 47.2 overs with Yannic Cariah injured and unable to resume his innings after he departed with six runs to his name.

Having won the toss, the Guyana Jaguars captain Leon Johnson decided that his team will field first and try to exploit a pitch that was devoid of any grass.

West Indies Youth World Cup players Kimani Melius and Keagan Simmons shared a 37-run opening stand before Raymon Reifer prised out Melius for 20 off 34 deliveries.

Simmons was the dominant partner in the 57-run second wicket stand with Kirstan Kallicharran that carried the score to 94 for 2 in  24.4 overs.

However, the left-hander was bowled by the impressive Clinton Pestano who pegged back the Windies B with a frugal spell of 5-1-8-1.

He greeted West Indies senior player Marlon Samuels with two bouncers that rattled the experienced Jamaican who then played on to Sherfane Rutherford.

The first bouncer by Pestano surprised the right-handed Samuels and the sharp rising delivery glanced off his elbow and left him in some pain. The next one also forced a hurried defensive stroke which saw Samuels retreat forlornly to the pavilion with only six runs off eight balls and the score 106 for three after 27.3 overs.

Kallicharran struggled to middle the ball and his patchy innings lasted 85 deliveries when his attempted flick shot off Ramaal Lewis ballooned to Pestano stationed at wide mid-off. He shared equal topscore with Simmons on 44 that included four fours off 80 balls.

Odean Smith smashed two sixes and contributed 32 runs off 32 balls as their innings closed at 192 for 9 off 47.2 overs.

Raymon Reifer (7.1-0-30-2), Permaul (10-0-47-2), Hemraj (6-0-28-2), Pestano (6-1-13-1), Lewis 7-1-25-1) and Sherfane Rutherford (2-0-6-1) shared the wickets.
