Regent Street man remanded on armed robbery charges

City Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday remanded 26-year-old Darren Brown of Regent Street to prison after he appeared before her to answer four counts of armed robbery.It is alleged that on October 23, 2015 in Georgetown, while being in the company of others and being armed with a gun, he robbed Caphel Harriprashad of 43 cell phones valued $1.5M. They also carried away $250,000GYD and $400US.
The second charge reads that on the same day at the same location, while being in the company of others and being armed with a gun, he robbed Kevin Moonsammy of one cellular phone valued $45,000 and $20,000 cash. It is also alleged that he robbed Lawrence Fegeira of one Laptop, one gold ring and an amount of cash.
Police Prosecutor Corporal Deniro Jones objected to bail based on the seriousness of the matter and the fact that Brown posed a flight risk. He is expected to return to court on November 5.
