152 secondary schools in T&T to receive Pereira’s ‘Living My Dreams’

THANKS to the generosity and combined efforts of the Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sports, 152 secondary school libraries in the Twin Island Republic will each receive a copy of Joseph ‘Reds’ Pereira’s autobiography entitled ‘Living my Dream’.

According to Sir Ronald Sanders a Consultant and former Caribbean Diplomat, “It is not often that a book comes along that should be in the Library of every school and on the list of Civics reading material.  ‘Living my Dreams’, the recently published autobiography of West Indian Cricket commentator, Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira is such a book.”
Hence it was no surprise to Perreira, when T&T’s Minister of Education Tim Gopie- Singh, called and made the order for the number mentioned previously, which he handed over during Trinidad’s leg of the ongoing West Indies Cricket Board’s CT20 tournament.
At the launching in Barbados last year, during Australia’s tour of the West Indies, Sir Ronald Sanders said, “The book, which tells of many behind-the-scenes stories, particularly about West Indian cricket and cricketers, is ultimately a moving tale that should inspire every young person to set their goals, work hard to achieve them and live their dreams.”
Such a statement was later highlighted by both Gopie-Singh and T&T’s Minister of Sport Anil Roberts when Perreira did his launching at the Queen’s Park Cricket Club while the Australians were visiting to take on the West Indies there as well.
According to Perreira, Gopie-Singh who is a former T&T fast bowler, promised to make every effort to get the book into every secondary school library, confirming same with his phone call to the author late last year.
Perreira said he is making every effort to get the book, which was also launched in his native Guyana two years ago, into every secondary school in Guyana, along with Antigua and St Vincent and the Grenadines joining with T&T, Barbados and St Lucia.
“I have written to the Minister of Education in Guyana, Antigua and St Vincent and the Grenadines, explaining to them the importance of having this book in every secondary school in their country, since it can help the youths of those countries to never give up, while they battle against all odds, as I did,” said Perreira.
