AS Guyana’s biggest open softball tournament prepares to take the country by storm from October 18 to November 15, Basheir and Son’s Construction Inc. and Mohamed’s Excavating Construction Inc., have joined forces as the title sponsors of the Female Category for the third edition of the One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cup.
Both companies have strengthened their support for the tournament following their involvement last year, demonstrating their continued commitment to creating opportunities for female softball players across Guyana to showcase their talent, develop their skills, and participate competitively in the sport.
Director of Basheir and Son’s Construction Inc., Ms. Bibi R. Mohamed, said the company is pleased to once again support the tournament and contribute to the development of grassroots sports in Guyana. Ms. Mohamed noted that opportunities for female participation are not always given the attention they deserve in sporting competitions. She commended the organisers for continuing to provide a platform where women and young girls can participate, compete, and develop their abilities in the game.
She further stated that Basheir and Son’s Construction Inc. takes its corporate social responsibility seriously and views this sponsorship as another meaningful way of giving back to communities across Guyana.
“This tournament creates an opportunity not only for experienced female players, but also for younger players who are developing their skills and looking towards a future in the sport. Grassroots competitions can provide a foundation for these young women to progress into club cricket and, with dedication and hard work, possibly go on to represent Guyana,” Ms. Mohamed said.
Ms. Mohamed extended best wishes to all participating players and teams and encouraged them to play with determination, discipline, good sportsmanship, and to the best of their abilities as they compete for a place in the national playoffs and championship.
Meanwhile, Director of Mohamed’s Excavating Construction Inc., Mr. Faizul Mohamed, expressed similar sentiments, noting that his company is proud to once again support an initiative that provides opportunities for local athletes.
“This tournament gives our local softball players an opportunity to showcase their talent while developing and improving their skills. We are especially pleased to see the organisers continuing to include female players and teams from across the country,” Mr. Mohamed said.
Together, Basheir and Son’s Construction Inc. and Mohamed’s Excavating Construction Inc. are proud to support the Female Category of the One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cup, helping to promote grassroots sports, strengthen community participation, and create greater opportunities for women and young female athletes across Guyana.
Manager of RS Sports, Mr. Abel Seetaram, took the opportunity to thank both sponsors for once again coming on board and supporting the tournament. Not only supporting the tournament, but I must say that we are very happy that both companies took on the mantle of powering the female category as the title sponsor.
Mr. Seetaram said that having both companies back on board shows the confidence they have in the tournament, and also, it shows that they take up their social responsibility of giving back to community development seriously, and sports is no exception in community development because it helps to empower and develop our youth.
He went on to assure both sponsors that this year’s tournament will once again be played to the highest standard and in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The nationwide tournament returns bigger and better, with both Male and Female categories, and over $5 million in cash and prizes up for grabs.
In the female playoffs, the winner will take home $200,000 more from last year in a purse of $500,000 and the winning trophy; the runner-up $200,000 and trophy; the Player of the Tournament (MVP) $50,000 and a trophy, along with other prizes. The Player of the Final will receive $30,000 and a trophy; best bowling figure in an innings $20,000 and a trophy, and the batsman with the highest individual score $20,000 and a trophy.
