ExxonMobil U18 Schools competition…
RILEY Ketwaroo scored twice as Three Mile Secondary defeated Bartica Secondary 4–0 to secure a group-stage berth in the inaugural ExxonMobil Guyana U18 Schools Football competition, which kicked off on Friday afternoon at the Bartica Community Centre Ground.
Organised by the Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA), the competition opened with Ketwaroo giving Three Mile the lead in the 12th minute. His goal separated the teams at halftime, with Three Mile holding a 1–0 advantage.
Ketwaroo completed his brace in the 68th minute before Eric Stephens added a third in the 71st. Isaiah Daniels then scored in the 74th minute to complete the victory and confirm Three Mile’s progression.
VMFA will unveil fixtures for the other participating regions in the coming week, ahead of the wider nationwide programme of matches beginning on October 9.
The landmark tournament will bring together 118 teams (68 male and 50 female) from eight of Guyana’s 10 administrative regions, making it one of the country’s largest grassroots school football initiatives in recent years.
