THE Central Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) on Thursday announced that the moon has been sighted and Youman-Nabi will be commemorated on August 25.

In a press release, the Muslim organisation said that the crescent moon to commence the month of Rabii’ul Awwal 1448 AH was looked for after sunset on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

“Reports received locally and regionally confirmed that THE MOON WAS SIGHTED.

“The CIOG has accepted these reports and has declared the 1st Night of Rabii’ul Awwal will be THURSDAY, 13th, August 2026 and the 1st Day of Rabii’ul Awwal will be FRIDAY, 14th, August 2026,” the release said.

It further stated that Youman-Nabi will be commemorated on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
