Cotillion Ball marks official return of Miss Guyana Talented Teen Pageant

LAST Saturday, a Cotillion Ball was held as part of this year’s Miss Guyana Talented Teen Pageant, which is being held underhe theme, ‘Flowers in Bloom’.

Six young ladies:  Kevone Casey Lee, Macalah Downer, Akeelah Stoll, Jasmine Solomon, Reneesa Lewis, and Priya Abrams and their escorts competed in the ballroom dancing competition. Lee eventually emerged as the winner.

The delegates and their escorts were judged on their presentation, timing, posture, usage of the dancefloor and coordination.

Speaking at the end of the competition, seasoned Pageant Director Ms. Pamela Dillon said that despite being on a sabbatical for the last eight years, the pageant is back in full swing.

“What propelled me back out is because other people have been inspired by this pageant, so now we have several teen pageants in Guyana, and it’s a good way to go,” Dillon said.

Over the last 25 years, the Miss Guyana Talented Teen has positioned itself as a blend of glamour, creativity, and expression, and was organised under the guidance of Simpli Royal, led by the great pageant director.

The Miss Guyana Talented Teen was officially launched in 2009 as a national youth pageant aimed at celebrating teenage talent, poise, creativity, and confidence, featuring a lineup of 10 young contestants from across Guyana- East Coast Demerara, Berbice, Linden, and Georgetown.

The competition has evolved into so much more, allowing teens to compete, reflecting a broader embrace of youth development across gender lines.

The pageant is said to have impacted its participants in the most positive way, and is described as an experience that forever changes them.

The pageant will be held on January 17 at the National Cultural Centre and will see the six talented young ladies gracing the stage once more. At the end of the night, one will be crowned the winner.
