The Story of Trade

THE story of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)’s performance in the realm of trade will unfold today when statistics stakeholders meet in Georgetown for a seminar on the Community’s trade experience over the past four decades. The seminar is being held as the Community celebrates its 40th anniversary, and is one of the activities to mark International Year of Statistics which is being observed this year.
The 30-minute presentation, starting at 10:00 hrs today in the Executive  Lounge of the CARICOM Secretariat at Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown will explore the context of the changes in the external environment and the effects they have had on the Community’s trade performance, and will provide insight into the trade experience since the establishment of the CARICOM Single Market in 2006.
The distribution of total and intra-regional imports and exports among Member States and by trading partners including the European Union, given the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), will also be explored, according to an advisory from the Secretariat.
