CONTRACTOR Clive Lloyd King who was detained by the police to help them solve an arms and ammunition report at Lethem, that forced his reputed wife to file a habeas corpus report on Monday for his freedom, was released on Monday evening. According to Attorney-at-Law, Miss Latchmie Rahamat, one of the three lawyers who had filed the motion for habeas corpus on behalf of the applicant Sandra Shaneza Thompson and was awarded a nisi order by the Chief Justice to release or show cause, told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that the release came shortly after service on the Police Commissioner.
It was the second such order that the court had granted to the applicant.
According to the lawyer, when King was held for the second occasion on Monday after he was freed on the 10th and told to report on the 15th, he was told that the second matter had nothing to do with the report of arms and ammunition found at Lethem. It was related to another matter, they told him. (Barclay)
