JASON Fraser (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson yesterday, on a charge of being in possession of a narcotic.
He pleaded guilty to having two grammes of cannabis (marijuana), on February 8, in Robb Street, Georgetown.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said, ranks, acting on information received, went to a house on Robb Street to conduct a search and, upon seeing them, the accused ran to the back of it.
The prosecutor said Fraser was caught and, when searched, the drug was found on his person.
When weighed at the police station in his presence, the substance amounted to two grammes.
The defendant told the court he accepted ownership of the marijuana because he was found in the yard but denied that he took it there.
Fraser claimed that all his relatives are Rastafarians and one of them may have done so.
He was fined $5,000 and ordered to do six weeks community service at Alberttown Police Station, also in the city.
