A MAN charged with simple larceny has been sent for psychiatric observation at the request of his mother. The defendant, Perry Barry, 42, of Lot 48 Hadfield Street, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Leron Daley yesterday.
It is alleged that, on January 7, he stole a water bottle valued $2,500, property of National Communications Network Inc. (NCN).
However, before he could enter a plea to the charge, his mother informed the court that her son is a patient of psychiatry and needs to go back to the Observation Ward.
She, then, applied to have him mentally evaluated and the application was granted.
The defendant will return to court on February 12 for a determination whether he is fit to plead.
