TWO policemen, Jamal Lewis and Warren Blue, for whom wanted bulletins were issued after the murder of 17-year-old Agricola resident Shaquille Grant, are still at large. Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said yesterday that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has since applied to the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) to put out a ‘red notice’ for the fugitives.
The Deputy Commissioner (Law Enforcement) said that legally, there is no evidence to suggest that Lewis and Blue have left Guyana, but they cannot be located presently.
Issuing of the wanted notifications followed advice from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Shalimar Ali-Hack to charge the three policemen who confronted the group of young men in Agricola, when Grant was fatally shot and Romel Bollers injured on September 11.
Those police ranks had claimed being fired upon by the group in which Grant had been a part, and a .38 Smith and Wesson had allegedly been recovered from the crime scene.
Blue and Lewis were implicated together with Terrence Wallace, who alone made a court appearance and has been remanded to prison.
