Medical profession boosted with paediatrics, neonatal specialist

DR Naitram Singh, who secured his Doctor of Medicine Degree (MD) in Cuba in 2011, has now completed his post-graduate studies in Pediatrics and Neonatology at the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba – and is now back in Guyana to complement the pool of specialists at the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Singh is originally from Wakenaam, Essequibo. He first visited Cuba in 2004 and studied at the University Of Medical Sciences Of Matanzas where he obtained his MD.

Having served at the West Demerara Hospital and the Georgetown Public Hospital between 2011 and 2015, he was sent back to Cuba to pursue post-graduate studies.

With the return of Dr. Singh to Guyana, the local medical system should now have two neonatologists – Dr. Chandra Kumar and Dr. Singh.
