DEPUTY Commissioner of Police (Law Enforcement), Seelall Persaud, yesterday said that the post mortems for the three Lindeners who were shot and killed in the mining town on Wednesday night have been further delayed through lack of cooperation from relatives. He explained that relatives of Ron Somerset, Shemroy Bouyea and Allan Lewis were expected to travel to the city yesterday but later informed the police that they would not be doing so.
Persaud added that before the post mortems are performed, relatives have to identify the bodies.
He stated that there is a feeling that the relatives want an independent pathologist to conduct the post mortems, perhaps one from overseas.
But yesterday he urged the relatives to cooperate
with the police.
On Friday last the bodies of the men were transported to the city via the Guyana Defence Force helicopter, after the roads and bridges to and from the mining community were blocked by protestors.
