HOURS after taking up his new post as Commander of Region Six (East Berbice/ Corentyne), Senior Superintendent, Jairam Ramlakhan, during a familarisation session on Friday last, met with the Senior Divisional Administrators, along with the Station Sergeants and instructed them to prepare and submit a plan of action within 48 hours to effectively police the division in an effort to maintain law and order.

The Station Sergeants should include in their plans the statuses of the Station Management Committees, scouts, and drug raids along with the identification of known drug houses.
Thereafter, a massive public relation campaign will be launched through community engagements. It is expected that the Station Sergeants will take the lead in team policing across the region, with the support of the Commander and other senior administrators.

Commander Ramlakhan promised that standard procedures will be adhered to during all operations, including road blocks.
Meanwhile, shortly after Commander Ramlakhan took up his post, the Managing Director of Ashiek and Son Motor Supply, of Palmyra, East Canje, Ashraf A. Jahoor, pledged to freely service all of the police motorcycles every three months.

The senior cop was reassigned to the Berbice division where he took over from Commander Linden Isles, after spending about two months in Region One (Barima -Waini) where he served as Commander.

He previously held the position as Police Public Relation and Press Officer.
