This with reference to Guyana Chronicle July 25 headline, “South Rupununi body calls for increased COVID – 19 testing in villages with the sub-headline “Knocks Stabroek news over inaccurate article’’.

Why am I not surprised at the now institutional media culture of the Sabroek News, which is about dangerous distortion and dangerously mischievous captioned stories that aids the larger vile plan of the socio-political destabilization of Guyana, for and on behalf of its political handler, the political opposition.
Any media which deliberately sinks to the level, of distortion, particularly with regard a national health concern, specifically of the nature of a pandemic that not only currently threatens the welfare and lives of the global community, with statistics revealing an almost 12M infected persons, and close to 700,000 deaths; which would have also included a close to 400 infected citizens, and 20 deaths, can only be described as guilty of national recklessness.

There can be no excuse, rational or otherwise, for such kind of dangerous reporting on such a very grave national health issue, such as a pandemic, which can give rise to further stress, combined with unnecessary panic in a country that is currently, further threatened by daily rising numbers of persons found infected with COVID-19.

Rather than using its pages to indulge in grave mischief, a more beneficial line would be lending to a daily course of educating the public, which should also include, public awareness, apart from reporting objectively on the present status quo.

Clearly, such reporting is of a political nature, and at best disseminated for the purpose of attempts to make the government appear incompetent, despite the more than admirable it has done since the first victim was diagnosed in March. Rather than continuing with its vile and wicked ways which have already added most significantly to the attempts at metamorphosing a society built on the IMMORALITY OF FRAUD, it will be worthwhile that the Stabroek News add some of its columns as part of the strategy of public awareness in battling COVID-19; since such mischief as it seeks to purvey, may very well have the unintended consequences of fatally affecting even those behind such vile mischief.
