Magistrate reserves decision on medical examination for accused
WILLIAM Lyte, the man accused of two murders during a cutlass wielding rampage in Charlestown, Georgetown, in October, made another Court appearance yesterday and was further remanded to prison.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and was represented by attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson.
The lawyer requested a medical evaluation of the accused to determine whether he is fit to stand trial but the magistrate reserved her decision on the request and adjourned the case to December 21.
Lyte, when he first appeared in Court on November 1, faced four charges, two of murder and two of attempted murder.
Particulars of the offences said, on October 26, at Charlestown, he murdered Cedric Blackman and Ann Chan-A-Koon and unlawfully and maliciously wounded Radesh Persaud and Sean De Souza, with intent to kill the latter two.
He, allegedly, ran berserk that morning, at Russell and Howes Streets, Charlestown, where the attack on the victims took place before he surrendered to Police.
