…one jailed, other remanded on $80,000 bail
TWO men yesterday appeared in court to answer a joint breaking and entering and larceny charge.
Brian Griffith, (no address given) and Shawn July, (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry, and particulars of the charge stated that between September 7 and 8, they broke and entered the shop of Kerry Joseph and stole one grass cutter valued $120,000, and two pedal cycles priced at $46,000. They allegedly stole other items, all valued at $314,800.
Griffith pleaded not guilty and told the court that he was no where around when the incident occurred. He said the other defendant gave him cycle parts to sell and he was not aware that they were stolen.
July pleaded guilty and said the other defendant was no where around. He admitted that he took the items, but later returned all because the virtual complainant told him if he returned the items, he will drop charges.
“I do it cause I does use drugs your worship. Since 1989 I using drugs”
Griffith was put on $80,000 bail and the matter will be called again on September 21, while July was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
