FOOTBALL action in the Guinness Greatest in the Street Linden leg will commence today at the Mackenzie Car Park.The tournament, which will feature 32 teams competing for the championship, will coincide with the celebrations of Linden’s anniversary spectacle, its Linden Town Week and Guyana’s 50th Independence Jubilee celebrations in the mining town.
The championship will see seven matches as Classic Six face Trend Setters, ½ Mile/1 Mile Combined oppose Exodus, Trainline Warriors come up against Royalty Youths, Scheme and Constabulary collide, Unruly Shots take on Eagles, Hi Rollers clash with Coomacka and Cherokee Park meet Main Street Panthers.
The championship will continue tomorrow with several more matches and continue next Tuesday with the quarter-finals next Thursday, the semi-finals the following Monday (May 23) and the final set for Tuesday May 24 at the Mackenzie Market Park. (Joe Chapman)
