THE Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) will be holding their Safeway Security-sponsored clinic for spin bowlers and batting against spin bowling this Saturday at the National Gymnasium commencing at 09:30 h.
Cricketers invited to attend the clinic, except the Under-19 players who will be involved in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) weekend encampment at the Chetram Singh Centre of Excellence that is set to commence this weekend, are asked to arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start of the clinic.
They are asked to be properly attired in track pants, white cricket shirt and indoor cricket shoes (shoes without spikes), along with their complete cricket kit and an extra cricket shirt.
The official launching of the sponsorship for this clinic will be held this afternoon from 16:00 h, at 136 Albert Street, (between Fourth and Fifth Streets, Alberttown) and all executive members of the GCA are asked to make a special effort to attend.
The invited cricketers with their clubs in brackets are:
Under-15 batsmen: Tagenarine Chanderpaul (GYO), Andrew Gibson (DCC), Kumar Singh (GYO), Godfrey Matthews (MSC), Martin Pestano-Belle (GCC) and Terrence Alstrom (GCC).
Under-15 spinners: Vishal Narayan (MSC), Valdez Sukhu (DCC), Devon Lord (GCC), Steven Sankar (MSC), Pravendra Persaud (GYO), Soopaul Sanichar (MSC) and Sulinan Moakan (TSC).
DCC’s Omesh Dhanram and Everest Cricket Club’s Mohan Ramdeen are the Under-19 batsmen invited to the clinic, since the other four invitees in Quincy Ovid-Richardson, Kwame Crosse, Shameer Fazal and Clevon Hyman will be involved in the GCB’s weekend encampment.
The bowlers invited to learn more in their art are: Shaquille Williams (MSC), Dino Choo-Wee-Nam (DCC) and Raj Nanan and Raphael Singh from GCC, with former West Indies Under-15 leg-spinner Amir Khan being exempted.
The senior batsmen invited to the clinic are Christopher Barnwell, Leon Johnson, Shemroy Barrington, Trevon Griffith, Rajendra Chandrika, Steven Jacobs and Ryan Ramdass while another invitee, Vishal Singh, is currently playing first division league cricket in Kent, England.
The senior spinners are Berbice’s Damian Van Tull, Ranole Bourne, Jason Heyliger, Totaram Bishun, Christopher Surat, Vishal Jaigobin and Afzal Gafoor from the newly formed Ace Warriors.
