– Rohee
MINISTER of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee yesterday praised Roshan Khan’s Guyana Security Services for introducing its Global Positioning System (GPS) Dragnet Satellite Tracking and Asset Recovery System at its Light Street, Bourda, Georgetown headquarters.
He said the Government, through his ministry, supports the initiative which enhances the Private Sector and increases the detection of criminal activities.
Rohee said the Government and the Private Sector have been working in partnership in many areas and RK’s introducing the paraphernalia will significantly minimise the prevalence of carjacking and other criminal activities.
Acknowledging the increased incidence of motorised crimes, for example the hijacking of AT192 motor cars that bandits prefer, he said it can now be tracked and stopped.
Rohee said the Government welcomes the RK initiative which goes to show the manifestation of Government and Private Sector partnership, in the most tangible measure, in the area of security.
He also spoke of Government’s intention to install cameras in sections of the city, noting that it will add value to what the Private Sector has adopted, on real time movements of criminal elements.
Rohee said, with the addition of the tracker by RK’s, it is, indeed, an advanced way to consolidate the fight against crime.
President of Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr. Gerry Gouveia also commended RK’s on the expansion of its business and for creating more jobs.
He said the move signals Guyana is on the move, business wise.
Gouveia was impressed with the commitment of the company in its desire to boost the local security sector.
In his presentation, Mr. Roshan Khan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RK’s, said the tracking apparatus has been tested and is ready to demonstrate its unique monitoring features.
He said he started his business 30 years ago, with $7.50 in his pockets and, today, it has grown countrywide and is considered one of the largest security firms in Guyana.
Khan said the innovation is committed in enhancing vehicle and marine security for individuals, fleets and companies across the country.
It is intended to provide customers with assets tracking through the right combination of features and choices to fit their needs.
The system is designed to communicate with at least three of the navigational satellites to read longitude, latitude and velocity and accurately pinpoint, within a radius of an astonishing seven metres, the vehicle’s exact location in Guyana.
Khan said, through the advanced technology of high speed, low cost data transfer constant real time positioning, information is available, allowing for up to the second monitoring of a vehicle or an entire fleet.
The network comprises a GPS/GPRS receiver, GSM (mobile phone technology) cellular telephone module, modem, processor, memory card, back-up battery and antenna.
Making remarks on the occasion, too, were RK’s Chief Divisional Commander, Mr. David Moore and RK’s General Manager, Mr. Colin Boodie.
After the formal ribbon cutting by Minister Rohee, the new section was declared open.
