South Ruimveldt Secondary are the overall champions

GCB Female Under-19 cricket …

THANKS to another unbeaten innings from their skipper Lashaunna Toussaint, Demerara zone champions South Ruimveldt Secondary School (SRSS) were able to turn back the challenges of Berbice zone champions Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS), to win the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Female Under-19 Inter-secondary school title at the Demerara Cricket Club ground yesterday.

Winning the toss and batting first, CCSS were bowled out for a paltry 73 from 27 overs, with Nazeema Boodhoo 16 (2×4), Annette Seecharan 12 (1×4) and skipper Philliana Millington (10) being their principal scorers.

Shanika Estwick (3-13) and Letitia Myles (3-26) did the damage with the ball for SRSS, who, thanks to an unbeaten 27 which was decorated with three fours, including the winning boundary from Toussaint and 24 from Joselle Joseph also with three fours, reached 77-5 from 17.3 overs to complete an easy five-wicket victory.
Medium pacer Melissa Durant and Millington who bowls off-spin took two wickets for 16 and 23 respectively but it was not enough to stop SRSS, who played unbeaten throughout the competition, from romping to victory.

Apart from receiving the winning trophy, Toussaint was presented with a trophy after being named the player-of-the-match, as well as one for aggregating the most runs in the competition. (Calvin Roberts)
