All systems in place for today’s Berbice Invasion Drag Race Meet

ALL systems are in place for today’s Berbice Invasion Drag Race Meet at the Rose Hall Canje Airstrip, with the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) reporting encouraging fans’
interest ahead of the event.
The club’s spokesman said preparations have been ongoing at the venue for the
past three days, with the timing system scheduled to be installed on Friday and
Saturday as organisers work with stakeholders to ensure a successful meet.
“Our team has been at the venue for the last three days, preparing and ensuring all
systems are in place. We have our timing system going in on Friday and Saturday,
and we are working with all stakeholders to ensure we deliver a great event,” he said.
“All of our stakeholders, the Guyana Fire Service, Guyana Police Force, sponsors,
and support staff are being put in place. Some of those services we needed just
reopen the channel of communication and we got those up and running. But fans
and spectators can look forward to more than 200 races come Sunday.”
Qualifying will take place from 10:00hrs, with elimination rounds set to take place
from 12:15.
The spokesman also expressed optimism about spectators turnout, citing strong
interest from residents across Berbice.
Organisers have established four designated parking areas for spectators, with
clearly marked signs and directions. Ticket booths will be available in each area,
allowing patrons to buy tickets before entering the venue.

Shuttle buses will transport spectators between the parking areas and the airstrip,
with return services provided after the event.
The GMR&SC has urged patrons to follow instructions from security personnel
and parking attendants. The GMR&SC will designate general and VIP parking
areas and enforce no-parking zones.
Spectators are reminded that firearms, weapons, outside food and drinks, and
unauthorized vending are prohibited. Reckless driving outside the drag strip and
illegal parking will not be tolerated. Patrons and vehicles may also be subject to
security checks.
The event is organised by the GMR&SC, with ENet, Tropical Shipping, Castrol,
GuyOil and KFC among the sponsors.
