GUYANA is stepping up preparations to host the 3rd Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisations (RSOOs) and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organisations (RAIOs) Forum for Aviation Safety, with representatives from more than 60 countries expected to attend the two-day international event in Georgetown on September 29 and 30.
Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, met with the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) planning committee on Tuesday to review preparations for the forum, including the programme and logistical arrangements.
The event is expected to bring together aviation regulators, safety experts and other industry stakeholders for technical discussions, exhibitions and networking opportunities focused on strengthening aviation safety.
The two-day programme will feature technical sessions, exhibition displays and booths, providing opportunities for participants to exchange knowledge and engage on issues affecting aviation safety and regulatory co-operation.
The forum is being hosted by the GCAA and the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation, in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Joining Minister Indar at the planning meeting were Permanent Secretary Vishal Ambedkar; GCAA Director General, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret’d) Egbert Field; Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) Chief Executive Officer and GCAA Board Member, Ramesh Ghir; representatives of the GCAA and members of the planning committee.
The hosting of the forum will place Guyana at the centre of international discussions on aviation safety while providing an opportunity for local aviation stakeholders to engage directly with counterparts from across the global industry.
The event is also expected to strengthen Guyana’s international aviation partnerships and provide a platform for the exchange of technical expertise and best practices as the country’s aviation sector continues to develop.
