The Linden-Mabura road project has reached 79 per cent overall completion, with major pavement, earthworks and asphaltic works substantially advanced, according to the Ministry of Public Works.
The progress marks a significant step towards completing the upgraded hinterland corridor, which is expected to improve connectivity between Guyana’s coast and interior communities and facilitate the movement of people and goods.
The ministry said pavement construction, earthworks, subgrade preparation and asphaltic works have been completed across substantial sections of the roadway, with the project now moving beyond its major earthworks phase.
Attention is increasingly shifting towards finishing works and the installation of associated road infrastructure, including signage.
The upgraded Linden-Mabura corridor is expected to strengthen transportation links to Guyana’s interior regions while supporting economic activity and improving access to hinterland communities.
The project forms part of the Government’s broader infrastructural programme aimed at improving connectivity between coastal and hinterland areas and opening up greater opportunities for communities and businesses in the interior.
With overall progress now at 79 per cent, construction crews are continuing work on the remaining components as the project moves towards completion.
