THE Private Sector Commission (PSC) is being urged to encourag businesses to look beyond Guyana’s traditional economic sectors and capitalise on emerging investment opportunities as the country undergoes rapid economic transformation.
The call was made by Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, during a recent PSC Corporate Mixer at the Georgetown Plaza Hotel, which brought together corporate members for networking, engagement and discussions on the evolving business environment.
Rodrigues urged members of the private sector to increase investment in non-traditional areas of the economy, while reaffirming the Government’s commitment to supporting businesses seeking to take advantage of emerging markets.
She said the Government would continue to provide legislative and structural support to help businesses navigate the changing economic landscape and position themselves to benefit from new opportunities.
The event also featured remarks from PSC Vice Chairwoman Kathy Smith, Chief Investment Officer Peter Ramsaroop, and PSC Corporate Coordinator and Past Chairman, Manniram Prashad.
The mixer formed part of the PSC’s efforts to strengthen relationships among corporate members and create opportunities for businesses to exchange ideas, identify areas for collaboration and remain informed about developments affecting the economy.
The Commission plans to hold the corporate mixers every two months, providing members with a regular platform for networking and engagement.
The PSC said the initiative is intended to foster greater collaboration within the private sector and contribute to a stronger business community as Guyana’s economy continues to expand and diversify.
The Commission maintained that sustained private-sector collaboration will be critical to ensuring businesses are positioned to respond to new opportunities and play a greater role in Guyana’s economic development.
