THE Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), on Thursday, engaged residents of Melanie Damishana and Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara, during a public consultation on the Government’s proposed Model Village Initiative, using the forum to address electricity-related concerns and outline plans to improve service delivery.
GPL’s delegation was led by Head of the Executive Management Committee, Kesh Nandlall, who met directly with residents to discuss issues affecting electricity supply and answer questions on the company’s ongoing and planned initiatives.
According to the utility company, the engagement formed part of the wider public consultation on the Model Village Initiative which seeks to modernise the neighbouring communities through investments in infrastructure, drainage, roads, public amenities and utilities.
During the consultation, GPL representatives provided residents with information on measures being implemented to enhance the quality, reliability and efficiency of electricity services in the communities.
The company said the exercise also served as an opportunity to gather feedback from customers and better understand the issues affecting electricity supply at the community level.
GPL reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open communication with residents and working collaboratively with communities to improve the reliability and quality of electricity services as development initiatives continue across the country.
