GUYANA recorded its highest-ever number of visitor arrivals for the month of July in 2026, welcoming 45,127 visitors—an 11.1 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.

The Ministry said the record-breaking performance underscores the country’s growing appeal as a destination for international travel, with a calendar of major cultural, sporting and entertainment events helping to drive arrivals.

Among the highlights was the Origins Fashion Show, held from July 3 to 5, which attracted regional designers, models and fashion enthusiasts to Guyana.

The country’s observance of CARICOM Day, including the One Guyana Worship Experience on July 6, also drew regional participation while showcasing Guyana’s cultural diversity and strengthening ties within the Caribbean Community.

The Global Super League Cricket tournament, staged from July 23 to August 1, further boosted visitor numbers by attracting international teams, officials and cricket fans from across the region and beyond.

According to the Ministry, the combination of these high-profile events contributed to a vibrant tourism month, reinforcing Guyana’s emergence as a destination for culture, fashion and sport.

The Ministry noted that the latest figures reflect the country’s continued momentum in the tourism sector, as it expands its profile through international events and promotes its natural attractions, cultural heritage and adventure tourism offerings.

The record July performance comes as Guyana continues to invest in tourism infrastructure, destination marketing and event tourism as part of broader efforts to diversify the economy and increase visitor spending.
