THE Guyana Lottery Company Limited (GLCL) has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors, a move aimed at strengthening corporate governance and supporting the company’s long-term growth and development objectives.
Joining the Board are General Manager Ms. Kalima Ali, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Canadian Bank Note Company (CBN) Mr. Michael Besley, and Executive Vice President of Central America Lottery and Gaming at CBN, Mr. Ravi Singh.
According to GLCL, the appointments bring a wealth of leadership experience and specialised expertise in the lottery and charitable gaming sector, positioning the company to enhance its strategic direction and operational performance.
Ali, who has served as GLCL’s General Manager since August 2024, becomes the company’s first female Director. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for the organisation and reflects its commitment to inclusive leadership. Since assuming the role of General Manager, she has been involved in overseeing the company’s operations and strategic initiatives.
Besley has been with GLCL’s parent company, Canadian Bank Note Company Limited, since 2002. He currently heads the company’s Legal Department and has also served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs since 2021. His expertise in legal and corporate governance matters is expected to strengthen the Board’s oversight functions.
Singh brings more than two decades of experience with CBN and currently serves as Executive Vice President for Central America Lottery and Gaming. His extensive background in lottery operations and gaming management is expected to support GLCL’s efforts to drive innovation and expand its market reach.
GLCL said the appointments underscore its ongoing commitment to operational excellence, accountability, transparency, and strong corporate governance. The company noted that the Board will play a key role in ensuring its long-term strategy remains aligned with Guyana’s national development priorities while fostering sustainable growth and value creation.
The appointments come as GLCL advances several initiatives aimed at strengthening its market position, increasing customer engagement, and enhancing its contribution to Guyana’s economic and social development.
Company officials expressed confidence that the expanded leadership team will help advance GLCL’s strategic priorities, encourage innovation within the sector, and ensure the continued delivery of reliable, high-quality services to stakeholders and the Guyanese public.
Founded in 1996, GLCL operates Guyana’s national lottery under a licence granted by the Government of Guyana and has contributed millions of dollars toward sports, culture, education, and community development projects across the country. The company remains one of the country’s leading gaming and lottery operators.
