STUDENTS of Port Kaituma Secondary School are gaining valuable hands-on experience in modern agriculture through the institution’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, which recently featured a practical session focused on agricultural machinery and equipment.
The exercise provided students with an opportunity to examine and learn about the Mahindra 6070 tractor, exposing them to the essential components, maintenance procedures and operational functions of one of the key machines used in agricultural production.
During the session, students participated in hands-on inspections, interactive discussions and live demonstrations designed to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world agricultural practices. The practical approach allowed them to better understand how agricultural machinery contributes to efficient farming operations.
Educators noted that exposure to modern equipment is an important component of technical education, helping students develop the knowledge and competencies needed for future careers in the agriculture sector.
The training forms part of the school’s broader TVET programme, which aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills while fostering greater interest in technical and vocational fields.
