MINISTER of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, on Monday, officially handed over instruments of appointment to the newly constituted Board of the Bath Regional Hospital, as the Ministry of Health moves to strengthen governance and healthcare delivery at the institution.
The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Health’s Brickdam headquarters, where Minister Anthony met with the newly appointed board members and outlined the government’s continued focus on improving leadership and accountability within the public healthcare system.
The newly appointed Board comprises Jainarine Koosai, Devena Khemraj, Sandra Glasgow, Herman Jacob, Sudesh Latchman, Intiaz Altaf Khan, Devi Maraj, Derreck Ramroop and Mion Richmond.
According to the Ministry, the appointments form part of ongoing efforts to enhance the management structure of the Bath Regional Hospital and support the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents within the region.
Minister Anthony emphasised the important role hospital boards play in overseeing administration, supporting policy implementation and ensuring healthcare institutions operate efficiently and effectively.
The engagement also reflects broader efforts by the Ministry of Health to modernise and strengthen Guyana’s healthcare sector through improved governance, expanded infrastructure and enhanced patient care systems.
In recent years, the government has increased investments in regional hospitals and healthcare facilities across Guyana, with a focus on improving service delivery, expanding access to specialised care and strengthening healthcare management nationwide.
