POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 53-year-old man who was found unresponsive at his home in South Ruimveldt on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Anthony Mathurin, an unemployed resident of Greenheart Street, South Ruimveldt. According to preliminary police information, Mathurin’s death is believed to have occurred between 21:40hrs and 23:45hrs on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Investigators reported that Mathurin, who was said to have been suffering from an illness, was discovered lying motionless in the yard of his residence by relatives. Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the scene, and he was subsequently pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
The body was later escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police said CCTV cameras were observed in the area and will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Several individuals have been questioned, but no arrests have been made.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
