THE People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), based on the results of the Statements of Poll that have been posted on the Guyana Elections Commission’s (GECOM) website, is projected to win Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) for the first time in history.

The Region, which has also traditionally been won by the People’s National Congress-Reform (PNC-R)/A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), is the district with the most voters— meaning it a big factor in determining the winner of the General and Regional Elections.

Based on an analysis of the results, a majority of APNU’s votes in the region went to political newcomer, We Invest in Nationhood (WIN).

The APNU is projected to suffer major defeats in all regions across the country, while the PPP/C is on course to secure Regions One, Two, Three, Five, Six, Eight and Nine.

More details will follow as GECOM continues to complete the tabulation process.
