THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Tuesday received a significant enhancement to its operational capacity with the addition of 21 brand-new 2025 Toyota Hilux Double Cab pickups and 20 Honda XR 150 motorcycles.

The vehicles were handed over during a ceremony at the Tactical Services Unit, Drill Square, Georgetown. The 21 Hilux pickups were donated by CEO of Queensway Security Services Inc., Mr. Mohamed Qualander, while Marics & Company Limited contributed the 20 motorcycles.
The handing-over was attended by Commissioner of Police Mr. Clifton Hicken, Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ Mr. Ravindradat Budhram, and Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Mr. Errol Watts, along with senior officers and ranks of the Force.
Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Mr. Watts, in his remarks, emphasised that the donation will significantly enhance the Force’s ability to respond to crime, strengthen patrols, and ensure operational readiness ahead of the September 1st General and Regional Elections.
“I’m extremely happy as Deputy Commissioner Operations to be receiving 21 brand-new 2025 Double Cab Toyota Hilux and 20 XR 150 motorcycles, which will add to our fleet management capability both on land in terms of our response time in relation to crime, and most importantly, our preparation for General and Regional Elections,” Mr. Watts stated.
He further underscored that the vehicles would play a critical role in upholding the Force’s constitutional mandate during the elections while continuing to support patrol coverage and public safety initiatives long after.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Mr. Clifton Hicken extended gratitude to the donors, noting that the contribution reflects the value of public-private collaboration in strengthening national security.

“On behalf of the Guyana Police Force, I wish to sincerely thank Mr. Mohamed Qualander and Marics & Company Limited for this invaluable contribution. These resources will go a long way in boosting our service to members of the public,” the Top Cop said.
The new vehicles are expected to immediately bolster the Force’s mobility, response times, and visibility across the country.
