AN 18-year-old from East La Penitence, Georgetown, was on Friday remanded to prison for the murder of 16-year-old Reyna Depeazer, who succumbed to a gunshot wound after being hit by a stray bullet during a shooting incident last week in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The accused, Travell Daniels, also known as ‘Hammer’, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he was formally charged with murder.
The indictable charge alleged that between July 21 and July 23, 2025, Daniels murdered the teenage girl. He was not required to enter a plea, and was remanded to prison until the next hearing, which is set for August 20.

Investigations revealed that on the night of July 21, at around 23:25 hrs, Depeazer, of East LaPenitence, and a friend were sitting on a motorcycle at Mango Lane, East Ruimveldt, when the shooting occurred. Another motorcycle was parked nearby.
According to police, Daniels drove up in a white Toyota Fielder wagon bearing registration number PYY 2896. He exited the vehicle, armed with a handgun, and approached the other motorcyclist, reportedly confronting him over a misunderstanding.
During the altercation, Daniels allegedly discharged the weapon, and a bullet struck Depeazer in the neck.
She collapsed on the spot, and the suspect fled the scene in the same vehicle. Police ranks who responded to the incident quickly transported the wounded teen to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and underwent emergency surgery, but tragically died days later.
Police launched a swift manhunt, and, at approximately 01:00 hrs on July 22, arrested an unemployed Daniels along Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, while he was still in the same Toyota Fielder vehicle. He was informed of the allegation and taken into custody.
Although searches were conducted on Daniels’ person, the vehicle, and at his residence, no firearm was recovered. However, he was swabbed for gunpowder residue, and the vehicle was impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.
