The clinic ran from July 6th – 9th at the National Aquatic Centre and was facilitated by biomechanics science expert Genadijus Sokolovas.
According to Phillips, “We hosted a four-day coaches’ clinic; the program was facilitated by Genadijus Sokolovas, a leading expert with proved scientific credentials and specialisation in biomechanics. Biomechanical power testing was done using advanced underwater camera systems to analyse swimmers’ techniques in detail. A total of 44 pre and competitive athletes benefitted from the power testing, receiving individualised feedback alongside their coaches on how to correct and refine their technique for improved performances.”
The GASA head said this is part of their series of programmes designed to help develop the next cadre of top swimmers by the Association.

“This initiative was spearheaded by the GASA executive team as part of its 2025 development project for athletes and coaches and was made possible through the support of World Aquatics.”
The swimming administrators added that this level of mechanical testing in usually done at the world champions where only a few athletes from Guyana are exposed.
She says that the range of swimmers that benefitted will auger well for the country’s swimming programme in the years to come.
