‘Multi’ and Old Fort Show Stoppers doing battle

THE Guyana Hockey Board U-14 competition continued on Friday at Saint Stanislaus Auditorium with GCC Pitbulls, Saints Sensations, Saints Slayers, and Old Fort Show Stoppers and Old Fort Gladiators emerging as winners.

Pitbulls captured a 7-1 win over Saints Sigma, with Maxwell and Kristian Viapree leading the charge with a pair of hat-tricks in an awesome display.
Saints would get onto the score sheet first with Christiano Romascindo’s goal four minutes after the opening whistle.
However, after that, it was the GCC’s show as the season’s young players dominated the remainder of the contest.

Luc Scott scored the equalizer for the Pitbulls before the Viapree brothers took over the contest to record the next six goals for the 7-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Old Fort Showstoppers had a tough time putting away ‘Multi’ boys in their clash.

Andrew Amin gave ‘Multi’ the advantage in the 4th minute of play, but Saints Showstoppers went on to score the next three field goals off the stick of Jimmy Carpio to go on top, 3-1.
Multi’s Trifon Davis would score to bring the lead within reach, 3-2, but Jhonny Carpio restored the cushion with his goal for Showstoppers thereafter.
Multi’s Alpha Smith put them within reach once again, before time ran out with Showstopper taking the 4-3 win.

Old Fort Gladiators also stopped Hikers Hatchets, 7-1, with Brandon Layne recording a quadruple of goals with a pair from Andre Charles.
Next Saints Hockey Club, Sensations, proved just that, sensational! As they outlasted GCC Her-ricanes on the distaff side, 6-nil.
Enquana Giddings had a double for her side in the victory, with Destiny Cameron delivering with a triple in the win.

Also, in the girl’s category, Saints Slayers downed Old Fort High Fliers, 5-nil, in their scheduled match-up. It was another two-player affair as Carenza Copeland and Isabella De Freitas combined to secure the win, comfortably.
Copeland scored field goals in the 1st, 5th and 19th minutes to register a hat-trick, with De Freitas ending the contest with a double.
