GTUC: Let this festival inspire renewed energy, determination to build a prosperous Guyana for all

THE Guyana Trades Union Congress extends its warmest greetings to all workers, families, and citizens of Guyana as we celebrate the joyous occasion of Phagwah.
This vibrant festival of colours symbolises the triumph of good over evil, the celebration of unity, and the spirit of renewal.
It is a time to reflect on our shared values of hope, peace, and love, as well as the importance of community and solidarity.
As we come together to celebrate, we must also recognise the ongoing struggles faced by our workers, including pensioners and the unemployed.
The GTUC continues to stand firm in advocating for the rights of all citizens, especially those who are most vulnerable. We remain committed to fighting for equal rights, justice, and better working conditions for everyone, striving to improve the standard of living for all, regardless of age or employment status.
In a country that is rapidly developing and in a world where our economy is growing at an extraordinary pace, it is crucial that this progress benefits everyone. No worker, pensioner, or unemployed person should be left behind. Every individual deserves to live with dignity, and each person should be provided with the opportunity to contribute to society and receive fair compensation for their efforts.
The fight for better wages, improved benefits, and safer workplaces remains central to our mission. But we must also ensure that pensioners receive the respect and support they deserve after years of hard work, and that the unemployed have access to opportunities that lead to stable, fulfilling livelihoods.
As we celebrate the vibrant spirit of Phagwah, let us be reminded of the resilience and strength within us all. Let this festival inspire renewed energy and determination in our collective efforts to build a more equitable and prosperous Guyana for all – one where every citizen, regardless of their employment status, has the chance to thrive.
Happy Phagwah to all!
